Pond and waterfalls are great attributes to have in any part of your outdoor home. Waterfalls add a beautiful sound, and unique, tropical sight, to any landscape or garden.
Picturing what pond and waterfall is right for your landscape, garden, or backyard, depends on a few simple concepts. What size are you looking for?
There’s the small pond and waterfall that’s perfect for fitting in a landscape strip, entryway, inside patios, or pretty much wherever you need to add a focal element to your outdoor home.
Then there are medium, and large waterfalls that act as the main focal point for an outdoor room. They go great in front of decks, or with a courtyard built into them, so you can sit in front of the pond and relax while taking in the sights and sounds.
Besides the size of a pond and waterfall, there are numerous other elements that can be added onto the pond and waterfall to enhance it’s attributes. Additions such as built in planters, side waterfalls, and additional streams, are all things that can be included in your pond and waterfall that would make it more unique, and better suit your particular tastes.
Built-in Pond Planter
Planters built into a pond and waterfall are made out of natural stone, and blend into the pond itself. They can be built over the top spillway, to add a crown of foliage to hang over, and sprout above the waterfall, or the sides of a pond.
Planters can also be made from paver wall block.
Paver wall blocks with a rugged texture compliment the rugged texture from the rocks in the waterfall. Paver wall blocks are all a more cost effective alternative to the rock planters.
Pond planters can be customized in shape to fit when needed, such as seen with the curved rocks in the photo above.
Pond planters can be built into above ground ponds as well. The planter will be made out of the same style as the pond. As seen in the photo above, Tennessee fieldstone was laid over block, and then topped with a thick slab of natural Tennessee flagstone.
